Post1967 Saks Fifth Avenue Ads ~ Ali MacGraw

In the 1960s, Saks Fifth Avenue was known for their crisp black and white fashion ads. However, a colorful 6-page ad was featured in the August 1967 Seventeen magazine to showcase the new mod styles for young juniors:

Gorgeous ladies! ALI still is distinctively beautiful. These outfits are wearable today.

Some of us have had the pleasure of meeting Ali when she was working at Sokolsky's studio. She was much too beautiful not to be a model, as she also had the height and slender body. Every model encouraged her to try. She had actually done a little modeling while she was in college as a guest editor for Mademoiselle. She went on to work for Vogue and later the photographer, Sokolsky as a styist and studio manager.

She finally gave in and went to Ford where she was scooped up. This led to many editorial and commercial assignments. Later she went to Hollywood and did "Love Story." She married Steve MccQueen.
