During the 1950s-1970s, sewing was traditionally taught in Home Economic classes. Many teens also learned to sew from their mothers and enjoyed copying the latest fashions at a fraction of the retail costs. Many of our favorite models from Seventeen magazine were also featured in various sewing ads:
