Hi Linda,

I was wondering if you were going to bring over the 60s Designers album from the MSN Group to the new site. It's probably not your top priority at this busy time, and I certainly understand. If you do transfer it here, I'll have quite a few pictures to add. The 1966 Fall/Winter Singer Showcase Magazine (sewing) had a great article entitled "Singer World Designers Collection." I have pictures of the following designers and their clothes:

Monique Schwarzenburg

Ognibene-Zendman

Barocco

One of my favorite designers is Yves St Laurent. I can remember his boutiques called Rive Gauche in the late Sixties. He was one of the first designers, after Pierre Cardin, to come out with a ready to wear line called "Pret a Porter" in French.

This is a screen shot of an early page on MMM60s/MSN. Does anybody have a better shot of this picture. What does the autograph say?

I put this picture in here using the PhotoBucket option. It is so easy!

7 new pictures of Mary Quant and/or her clothes in the sub-album of 60s Designers.

I've included three pictures from the 1965 Fall Butterick Home Catalog where she was featured as a "Young Designer". The "Young Designer" series of Butterick patterns ran from the 1960s through the 1970s. This particular catalog was the first issue to feature these designers. Besides Mary Quant, Jean Muir (Jane and Jane), Emmanuelle Khanh, and Gerald McCann were also showcased.

I have other pictures of Mary Quant's "Young Designer" patterns from later...

Here are 2 magazine articles from the summer of 1961 featuring

...the Jacqueline Kennedy Look, the Look that every American woman can adapt to her own personality.

The first article is from the August 1961 Ladies Home Journal magazine showcasing designs by Oleg Cassini that are modeled by Dorothea McGowan:

Butterick Patterns launched their Young Designers series in 1963 to appeal to the Baby Boomer generation. The successful series lasted almost two decades and included designers such as Mary Quant, Jean Muir, Mia Fonssagrives (daughter of model Lisa), Prue Acton, Willi Smith and Kenzo.

Betsey Johnson was a designer for Alley Cat in 1971 when she began creating patterns for Butterick....

Can Vivienne be said to be the successer of
Mary Quant ? they both had shops in the Kings road, they both designed and made clothes for the mass market !
But somehow Vivienne has been a bit of an oddball, so closely associated with the Sex Pistols pop group and a very weird outlook on life.
But you ve got to admire her stamina and her persistance.
Highly acclaimed by so many in the fashion world.... put up there with the likes of Karl Largerfield..... and Yves St Laurent... yet while they were as rich as Croesus ... poor Vivienne was making her creations on...

Kecia Nyman fondly recalls working with French model Maryll Orsini. Here are two of their ads from 1963:

Paris Planning Agency
In the mid summer of 1966 I was having a lot of fun. I was an art student, studying fashion illustration in New York City. Because I was so tall and thin, people were constantly encouraging me to try to be a model. I did not think I had a chance, but after a slow start I was accepted by the Ford agency and sent to Paris to pose for the magazines and walk the runway of Pierre Cardin and Jean Patou and others. I was under contract to Paris Planning.
